KBS shared the Love Song for Illusion Episode 1 trailer ahead of its premiere. Starring Park Ji-Hoon and Hong Ye-Ji, the K-drama is a new series that deals with alternate personalities.

Park Ji-Hoon plays Crown Prince Sajo Hyun, who suffers from childhood trauma because of his oppressive father. He has a dual personality named Ak-Hee, a carefree and independent fashion designer. He works downtown, where nobody knows he is a royal. Hong Ye-Ji essays the role of Yeon Woo, a successor from a noble family who turns into an assassin named Gye-Ra to avenge her father’s death.

KBS also released a few photos from the upcoming episode. The pictures seem to be from a scene from the palace, featuring Crown Prince Sajo Hyun holding an unconscious Yeon Woo.

Love Song for Illusion Episode 1 will air on Monday, January 2, 2024, at 10.10 p.m. KST on KBS2. It will also stream on Viki. Popular Korean reality dating show Single’s Inferno 3 aired a new episode 8 on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 5 p.m. KST on Netflix. The series features a set of eligible singles, both men and women, looking for love and a potential partner on an isolated island called Inferno. Throughout the season, they participate in a variety of challenges and tasks. The winners get to pick their choice of partner and spend some quality time in Paradise.

In Episode 8 of Single’s Inferno, the women competed in the iconic chicken fight battle to pick their partners for Paradise. It came down to the final three women, Choi Hye-Seon, Yun Ha-Jeong, and Cho Min-Ji, who battled for first place. All three women had formed a close connection with Lee Gwan-Hee. The latter joked that the battle should be named after him and should be called “Lee Gwan-Hee’s Derby.” Moreover, Gwan-Hee was sure of going to Paradise and it’s only a matter of which woman out of the three takes first place.

While the episode ended on a cliffhanger, the situation only makes it a fair bet for all three women. Moreover, it is also a chance for Lee Gwan-Hee to head to Paradise with either one of them.

Single’s Inferno Season 3 Episode 8: Three women battle for Lee Gwan-Hee’s time

The latest episode of Single’s Inferno 3 picked up where the previous episode left off. The results of the men’s challenge left Lee Gwan-Hee, Park Min-Kyu, and Son Won-Ik to make their pick and head to Paradise. Eventually, Gwan-Hee chose Cho Min-Ji, Min-Kyu chose Kim Gyu-Ri and Won-Ik chose Yu Si-Eun. However, it looked like only the first pair were happy to leave Inferno. Meanwhile, Ah Min-Young and Lee Jin-Seok made up for lost time.

Park Min-Kyu and Kim Gyu-Ri formed a close connection before the latter expressed her interest in fellow suitor Choi Min-Woo. The pair’s conversation didn’t flow as well as before, considering Gyu-Ri’s stance. While she expressed feeling relaxed on her date with Min-Kyu, she confessed to feeling excited about spending time with Min-Woo.

Meanwhile, Yu Si-Eun wasn’t too happy to go to Paradise with Won-Ik and it was evident through her facial expressions. She clearly expressed her interest in forming a connection with Min-Woo but felt that their timing was off. While Won-Ik hoped and wished for a better bond with her, Si-Eun struggled to put up a smile during their conversation.

Gwan-Hee and Min-Ji became comfortable with each other right from the start. From back-to-back flirtations to smooth-flowing conversations and fun moments, the duo hit it right off. It was evident that this connection would turn out to be more complicated back at Inferno. Two other women, Hye-Seon and Ha-Jeong, still pursued him.

The women back at Inferno sat down for a conversation when Hye-Seon and Ha-Jeong spoke about their equations with Gwan-Hee being completely different. Ha-Jeong had previously expressed her feelings to him, while Gwan-Hee considered Hye-Seon his first choice. But his time with Min-Ji in Paradise would potentially change that.

By the end of episode 8, the women had battled in a chicken fight competition. Hye-Seon, Ha-Jeong, and Min-Ji won their respective battles. They came together for one final time to claim first place. The first winner out of the three would probably choose Gwan-Hee for Paradise. Meanwhile, Gwan-Hee called the final match “Gwan-Hee’s Derby,” confident of going to Paradise.

Even when they learn about Ji-Won’s cancer, they make her do all the office and domestic work while Park Min-Hwan quits his job to invest in the stock market. It is quite evident that Ji-Won has a pretty unsafe and unhealthy life with her husband and in-laws.

The episode then shows the hospital telling Ji-Won that her guardian needs to pay the bills to continue her treatment. Ji-Won then tries to call her husband, but he does not receive the call. So, she decides to go to her house in a taxi to confront him about the hospital bill. When she gets off the taxi, the driver tells her that she will have a great life ahead.

However, when Ji-Won enters her home, she witnesses something horrible. Her husband is cheating on her with her best friend, Jung Soo-Min. Thereafter, Park Min-Hwan gets flustered and in a fit of rage, pushes Ji-Won onto a glass table. She gets heavily injured and succumbs to her unfortunate demise. However, right after her death, she wakes up in 2013, 10 years before her death. She is in the office where her husband, who is her boyfriend at that time, also works.

Seeing him and also her best friend at the office, she completely loses her composure and soon runs away. During the entire chaos, one person is helping her throughout, and this is her boss, Yoo Ji-Hyeok (Na In-Woo). After reaching home, Ji-Won realizes that she has traveled back in time. She also realizes that the taxi driver from before was none other than her father, who seems to have helped her somehow.

Now, Ji-Won knows what will happen in the future. She knows that she will get betrayed by her husband and best friend. She also notices that whatever is supposed to happen in the future will happen no matter what. But she can change her fate by making someone else take over her destiny. Later on, the two men sit down for lunch together. There, Sang-Hyuk asks Jae-Hee whether he likes Oh Baek-Ryun or not. Jae-Hee confesses his attraction and feelings for Baek-Ryun. However, when Jae-Hee asks the same question to Sang-Hyuk, he fails to answer it. Jae-Hee calls him a coward for not being able to accept his feelings.

Meanwhile, both Sang-Hyuk and Baek-Ryun keep on thinking about the intense and passionate kiss they shared the previous night. Their feelings for each other are now undeniable and have grown even more. Later that night, when Baek-Ryun meets Sang-Hyuk, she tells him that she does not regret the kiss and that she did it while drunk, as she did not dare to do it in a sober condition.

Towards the end of episode 9 of My Man Is Cupid, Baek-Ryun appears at the police station in a dark gothic look and scares everyone. However, she is not aware of the fact that it is the place which belonged to Sang-Hyuk and it is also where Yoo Jeong-Ah used to live.

Sang-Hyuk is shocked to see Baek-Ryun bringing them to this place. He reveals that it is where he used to live with his father. Then, the three of them enter his home which is now empty. While there, Sang-Hyuk starts to reminiscent about Yoo Jeong-Ah, he also starts to see the similarities between her and Baek-Ryun. He realizes that he has developed strong feelings for her.

He is now scared that a similar tragedy will engulf Baek-Ryun, just like Yoo Jeong-Ah. He knows that whenever he opens his heart to someone it ends with tragedy. Thus, he decides to shoot Baek-Ryun with his cupid arrow to make her fall in love with Officer Jae-Hee. The episode ends with Sang-Hyuk pointing his cupid arrow at the two of them sitting beside one another.

The ongoing K-dramas, which air on weekends after 8:40 p.m. KST, are postponed to next week due to the MBC events.

SBS Drama Awards 2023 is all set to take place this Friday, December 29, 2023, at 8:40 p.m. KST. Recently, SBS faced a controversy regarding its declaration of the other criteria for the Best Couple Award category. The issue occurred after the network already held an online vote for the same category. My Demon’s Song Kang and Kim Yoo-Jung won in the online vote as the best couple by a huge margin.

SBS has finally addressed the ongoing controversy by releasing an official statement on Friday, December 29, 2023. The statement reads, “The criteria for the Best Couple award have been the same every year, and we put them in writing this year because we’d received many inquiries about the award criteria.”

SBS Drama Awards 2023 Best Couple Award controversy explained

SBS held an online vote for the Best Couple Award 2023 on its website. The nominees in this particular category for the award show included Lee Sung-Kyung and Ahn Hyo-Seop of Dr. Romantic 3. It also included Kim Yoo-Jung and Song Kang of My Demon and Shin Ye-Eun and Ryeoun of The Secret Romantic Guesthouse.

The voting started on December 18 and ended on December 27, 2023. In the online voting, My Demon’s Song Kang and Kim Yoo-Jung received an overwhelming number of votes. The on-screen couple became the winner of the online vote for the Best Couple Award. However, SBS later stated in an official statement that they would determine the winner based on other criteria apart from the online vote, which created a huge controversy.

SBS explained, “Aside from the online voting results, the Best Couple award is also determined based on the votes of each drama’s production team, the internal votes of SBS and Studio S employees, viewership ratings, online buzz, and other factors. The results will be announced during the live broadcast [of the 2023 SBS Drama Awards].”

After the statement was released, the audience started to speculate that the network must have changed the criteria for the Best Couple award to avoid giving it to Song Kang, who may not attend the SBS Drama Awards 2023 due to difficult scheduling.

On December 29, 2023, SBS denied all the speculation regarding the controversy. They have released an official statement that reads, “The criteria for the Best Couple award have been the same every year, and we put them in writing this year because we’d received many inquiries about the award criteria…We would be grateful if you would tune in to the broadcast to see the award results.”

All of them, including Sam-Dal’s family, rush to look for Go Mi-Jaa. In the newly released trailer, the residents look worried for her safety.

Cho Hae-Dal’s daughter worries that the sea will take away her grandmother. Meanwhile, the residents wonder if the sea has claimed another life. Like Flowers in Sand Episode 4 begins with him asking Yu-Gyeong why she wants him in the team. She reveals that she is his childhood friend, Du-Sik, who knows him very well. Somehow, she persuades him to think about the coach’s position. In the middle of the day, frustrated Kwak Jin-Su challenges Baek-Du to a wrestling match. The winner will take up the coach’s role.

Initially, Baek-Du hesitates to agree to the terms, but Yu-Gyeong/Du-Sik’s (Lee Joo-Myoung) look makes him say yes. During the match, each wins in the first two rounds. As they start the third round, two cops barge into the training center, stop the match, and ask Baek-Du to come to the police station.

According to CCTV footage, he is the last person Chil-Seong interacted with before his death. The video indicates that they had a scuffle. The cops ask Baek-Du to narrate the incident, but he was drunk that night and couldn’t remember a single detail. While things don’t seem to look good for him, cafe owner Joo Mi-Ran comes to his rescue.

She tells the cops that she saw drunk Baek-Du walking in the middle of the road when a car passed by speedily. Baek-Du falls on the side of the road. Chil-Seong gets out of his car and helps him to get up. Baek-Du tries to stop Chil-Seong as he walks away and gives him money. Later, Jang Dong-Yoon’s character clarifies to the police that he was returning the change Chil-Seong forgot to collect at a shop the other day.

At the police station, Baek-Du discovers that Chu Mi-Suk is the captain. He first saw her near Du-Sik’s house when she told him that Mi-Suk was her mother-in-law.

Jang Dong-Yoon’s character connects the dots and learns the truth about his childhood friend. In Like Flowers in Sand Episode 4 ending, he recalls that Du-Sik was a fan of Mi-Suk as a child. He rushes to meet Du-Sik and confesses that he knows who she is. Baek-Du asks if she is a cop, leaving Lee Joo-Myoung in shock.

The lead characters are apparently the reason why Bo-Gyeom lost his lover in the past life.
