Lifetime will release a docuseries titled The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard in January. This series will see Gypsy Rose Blanchard narrate her own story. She recently got parole and according to Distractify, she will now live with her husband, Ryan Anderson.

The case against Gypsy Rose Blanchard is not just confusing but also mind-boggling. Gypsy was raised by her mother Dee Dee Blanchard. Dee Dee led everyone around their family to believe that her daughter was a disabled person. Gypsy was always in a wheelchair and on heavy medication. Their neighbors were convinced that Dee Dee was the picture-perfect mother who would do anything to protect their child.

However, one fine day, Dee Dee Blanchard was brutally murdered, and Gypsy was missing. Upon investigation, officials learned that the one who devised the plot to take Dee Dee’s life was none other than Gypsy and her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn. Godejohn stabbed Dee Dee 17 times, which resulted in her death. According to Distractify, Dee Dee suffered from a condition called Munchhausen syndrome by proxy. This made her hold her daughter as a medical prisoner.

In a recent interview with People, Gypsy revealed why she took part in the Lifetime docuseries. She said, “I want to make sure that people in abusive relationships do not resort to murder. It may seem like every avenue is closed-off but there is always another way. Do anything, but don’t take this course of action.”

The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard will consist of three episodes. It will air on Lifetime from January 5, 2024, to January 7, 2024, at 8 p.m. EST/PST.

Has Gypsy Rose Blanchard been released from prison?

The court originally sentenced Gypsy Rose Blanchard to ten years in prison. However, she acquired parole on December 28, 2023.

In the aforementioned interview with People, Gypsy stated that if she had the chance to redo everything, she was unsure of how to handle the situation. She said, “If I had another chance to redo everything, I don’t know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I’m not sick and mommy makes me sick. Or, if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, ‘You know what, I’m going to go tell the police everything.’ I kind of struggle with that.

Furthermore, Melissa Moore the executive producer of The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard said that the upcoming project will contain Gypsy’s unseen interviews from prison.

Moore said, “Over the course of this time, I watched her transform into a woman who holds responsibility for her past and now has the courage to face an unknown new free world for the first time.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard married Ryan Anderson in 2022. However, they were close to splitting a few months after their marriage. Fortunately, the couple reconciled. Ryan Anderson is a teacher from Louisiana. Born in 1991, Gypsy is currently 32 years old.

Boston Strangler remains one of the most infamous serial killers in the world, whose identity remains a mystery. The person murdered at least 13 women during the early 1960s. The lack of DNA testing facilities was one of the major reasons for the difficulty in confirming the identity of the Boston Strangler. However, a test of the final victim proved the involvement of Albert DeSalvo, who confessed to being the Boston Strangler.

In the 1960s, Boston witnessed a series of sexual assaults. Simultaneously, the Boston Strangler was associated with a series of murders. Authorities named the rapist the Green Man and began investigating the sexual assaults. Soon, authorities arrested Albert DeSalvo as part of that investigation and questioned elaborately when he confessed to being the Boston Strangler. Several of the sexual assault victims identified him as the perpetrator.

Robbery and sexual assaults remained the only charges that DeSalvo faced. This was because of the lack of DNA testing at the time. Authorities could not confirm whether he was the Boston strangler or not, so his sentence wasn’t based on his confession.

In 1967, Albert DeSalvo received a life in-prison sentence. Shortly after, he escaped from prison and triggered an elaborate search. Only days later, he turned himself in, and authorities shifted him to a maximum security prison to ensure that he couldn’t escape again. In 1973, an inmate in prison stabbed DeSalvo to death.

When authorities caught DeSalvo in a case of rapes that were assumed to be committed by the ‘Green Man,’ DeSalvo confessed that he was the Boston Strangler. He gave explicit details of each crime he committed in elaborate sessions. However, there was no substantial evidence to prove that he was the Boston Strangler.

Was Albert DeSalvo really the Boston Strangler?

An investigation into the decades-old case of Mary Sullivan’s murder and rape proved that the DNA was matched to DeSalvo’s. She was reportedly the Boston Strangler’s final victim. The serial killer was known to sexually assault the women he targeted before he killed them. All 13 murders were committed between 1962 and 1964, a short span for a long list of victims.

Although his involvement in Mary Sullivan’s murder is very clear, whether or not he committed all the other murders attributed to the Boston Strangler is still unclear. Many journalists, back when DeSalvo was accused, argued that law enforcement authorities could be using DeSalvo’s confession to avoid catching the real serial killer responsible for 13 murders.

In the case of Henry Lee Lucas, who was killed shortly after his confession to being a serial killer responsible for over 600 murders, police reportedly used his name to explain a wide range of crimes. Decades later, DNA testing proved that a lot of the crimes he was accused of were actually not committed by him, and his mental state and confessions were used to cover up a lot of crimes.

Very often, serial killers increase their kill count as it is seen to be a sign of honor. Confessions, therefore, cannot be taken very seriously when not paired with physical evidence.

Furthermore, he even preached at Harmony Church in Ada before his passing.

According to The Oklahoman, David was not what people thought he was. He led a double life and collected porn. Furthermore, he made his wife participate in threesomes with men from Oklahoma City, Norman, and Moore. Evans finally had it and begged her lover, Kahlil Square, to help her end her marriage. At the time, he was 27 years old.

Kristie devised a plan and provided Kahlil with the murder weapon and bullets. Furthermore, she allowed Kahlil to enter her home. The murderer entered through the backdoor and shot the pastor in his sleep. After executing the plan, Kahlil fled. However, David Evans was bleeding profusely from his forehead. He gradually passed away but in her testament, Kristie stated that she held her bleeding husband’s hand and apologised.

In her court testimony, Kristie said, “I was desperate. I wanted to be free from that. I knew of no other way.”

According to an affidavit The Daily Beast received, David constantly called her words like slut, fat, ugly, and whore. The affidavit said, “Kristie gave David’s gun and a box of bullets to Kahlil. Kristie and Kahlil agreed upon an approximate time Kahlil would come to the Evans’ residence to kill David. Kristie left the backdoor unlocked so Kahlil could make entry to the residence.”

According to Law & Crime, the couple’s daughter, Brittney Long, said that her father was abusive to her and her siblings. He would slam the siblings’ heads against each other, pick them up by the hair, force them to clean all night long, etc.

Brittney Long said, “My mom spent three decades of her life caged and controlled. She has told me more than once that she still prefers her life now to the life she had been living since 1991. I believe her.”

As for Kahlil Square, the court charged him with first-degree murder. However, the murder weapon has not been recovered. Kahlil and Kristie met in January 2021.

Lori Vallow Daybell, infamously known as the ‘doomsday mom’, was convicted of the murder of her two children, Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow, on May 12, 2023. She was additionally found guilty of being involved with the murder of her husband’s ex-wife, Tammy Daybell. Vallow was also found to be stealing Social Security payments issued in her children’s accounts.

The crimes came as a shock to those close to Vallow because of her seemingly contrasting life before this. Lori Vallow married Charles Vallow and the couple began raising Tylee Ryan, her daughter from her previous marriage, together. They later adopted Joshua, who was Charles’ sister’s grandson. Joshua was autistic and close friends suggested that Lori was a “patient” mother to him.

Her relationship with her children reportedly changed when she began reading books by Chad Daybell, an author of several pieces of fiction that revolved around apocalyptic themes and preparing for the end of the world. In 2018, Lori and Chad met. Chad, too, was married at the time and was raising five children with Tammy. Throughout their interactions, Lori and Chad reportedly discussed ‘demonic forces,’ ‘zombies’ and other supernatural ideas.

Lori Vallow soon began to refer to her husband Charles as a ‘demon.’ A year after Lori started interacting with Chad, Charles approached the police and reported that Vallow had been acting differently. She referred to herself as some kind of ‘god’ and threatened to kill Charles several times. Charles was afraid for his and his children’s safety and well-being, considering her mental and emotional state. He then filed for divorce from Lori.

When did the murders begin?

One day, when Charles went to pick Joshua up from school, Alex, Lori Vallow’s brother, shot Charles and killed him. He claimed that he did it to protect Lori, as Charles wished to harm his sister. Tylee and Lori confirmed the claim. In September 2019, Tylee and Joshua went missing one after another. Lori allegedly referred to both of them as ‘zombies,’ raising suspicions about their disappearance.

Amidst the investigation into Lori Vallow’s children, Chad’s wife and son were found dead in bed. The family didn’t opt for an autopsy, making further investigation difficult. Chad and Lori got married two weeks later, before an investigation was opened into Joshua’s whereabouts. The investigation was triggered by Joshua’s grandmother reporting her concerns about his well-being to the police. Authorities found that both Joshua and Tylee had died.

After a thorough investigation, the police searched Chad Deybell’s backyard and found both the children’s bodies buried there. Lori Vallow was charged with conspiring to kill Charles and her children, while Chad Daybell was also charged with the murder of Tylee and Joshua.

How long will Lori Vallow Daybell be in prison?

In 2022, Lori Vallow was declared fit to stand trial based on her mental health assessments. Subsequently, Lori and Chad were prohibited from coming into contact with one another as the trial progressed.

On May 12, 2023, Lori was found guilty of all charges, which included her involvement in the murder of her two children. She was also found guilty of plotting to kill Charles, her ex-husband. She received a life sentence without the possibility of release.

The six individuals reportedly attacked Ertman and Peña, two high schoolers, one night in June 1993. The girls were returning home when the gang raped and strangled them in TC Jester Park, Houston.

Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Peña’s slaying remains one of the most horrific and notorious crimes in Houston. The case will now feature on Oxygen‘s Prosecuting Evil With Kelly Siegler. Where are Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Peña’s killers now?

According to the Texas Department of Corrections, Venancio Medellin, the youngest of the six, is serving at the Polunsky Unit. Venancio received a 40-year prison sentence because he was only 14 years old at the time of the crime.

Fox 26 reported that in November 2020, state officials denied Venancio parole. Moreover, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said that they spared him “from a death sentence because of his age when he helped five other gang members rape, strangle, and stomp Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Peńa to death.” Ogg also insisted that the convict “should spend every day of the rest of his sentence locked up for everyone’s sake.”

The outlet reported that two other convicts—Raul Villarreal and Efrain Perez—had their death sentences commuted. The two were both 17 at the time and are now serving life in prison with parole. Department of Corrections states that Efrain Perez is at the Wynne Unit and will be up for parole in October 2029. Meanwhile, Raul Villarreal is serving at the George Beto Unit and will also become eligible for parole in 2029.

Previously, Peter Anthony Cantu, who was allegedly the mastermind behind Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Peña’s murders, was executed. Cantu, alongside Derrick Sean O’Brien and Venancio Medellin’s older brother, Jose Medellin, had received the death penalty. They have since been executed.

CBS News reported that Ertman and Peña failed to return home on the night of June 24, 1994. The girls had taken a shortcut to reach the latter’s northwest Houston neighborhood. The gang spotted them while they were crossing a railroad bridge, and one of them grabbed Peña. Ertman unsuccessfully tried to help her friend. The gang members raped the girls for more than an hour and also forced them to perform oral sex.

The attackers kicked the teens, knocked their teeth out, pulled out their hair, and broke their ribs. Eventually, they used a red nylon belt to strangle Ertman with such force that the belt snapped. They then used shoelaces to strangle Peña. Authorities found their bodies in the same park.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has finally been released from prison. The court originally sentenced her to 10 years in prison in 2016. However, she served 8 years and was granted parole. Blanchard went to prison for being involved in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

The plot to murder Gypsy Rose Blanchard was not just her own. It was devised by her and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. The Blanchard family’s neighbors always believed that Gypsy’s mother was a loving and caring woman. Dee Dee Blanchard never missed a step in taking care of her wheelchair-bound daughter. Furthermore, she made sure to protect Gypsy from all walks of life.

After Dee Dee’s murder, investigators shockingly learned that Gypsy Rose Blanchard neither suffered from any chronic illness nor was wheelchair-bound. She was perfectly healthy. However, according to the Springfield News-Leader, it was Dee Dee who had a psychological disorder known as Munchhausen syndrome by proxy. This condition makes the caretaker make someone ill on purpose or makes everyone around them believe that a person is severely ill.

Officials discovered the bloodied body of Dee Dee Blanchard on June 14, 2015. Nicholas Godejohn stabbed her 17 times which resulted in her death. After taking Dee Dee’s life, Nicholas and Gypsy fled.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is currently married to a Louisiana-based teacher named Ryan Anderson. According to Distractify, they plan to live together following Gypsy’s release.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson tied the knot in 2022. After getting married, Gypsy announced that the couple was deeply in love. However, sometime after they married, their relationship began getting sour. During her time in prison, Gypsy was in several relationships over time.

Ryan Scott Anderson operates from Lake Charles, Louisiana. Four months into their marriage, Gypsy Rose Blanchard announced that she and her husband were going to split.

She wrote a letter to her family that read, “It is with a heavy heart that this morning I made a decision to go ahead and file for annulment and end my marriage with Ryan. My marriage ends with no fault to either of us. I believe we are just in different places in our lives, and find it too difficult to walk a path together, at this point.”

After this announcement, Bachelor star Josh Seiter sent flirtatious emails to her. However, Gypsy and Ryan reconciled. A friend of Blanchard’s named Vickie Lewis stated, “We are fully aware of Joshua Seiter contacting Gypsy. We want him to know that her husband, family, friends and loved ones are fully prepared to support her in every way. She doesn’t need a man because she is happily married to Ryan and in love. She is very busy preparing for her pending parole.”

The letter further stated, “She does not need the distractions. He is still attempting to email her and needs to know he will not get another response. He will not be allowed to visit and has been blocked so he need not try. In other words, she has no need for him to contact her again.”

In July 2016, promising young actress Tucker Reed shot and killed her uncle Shane Moore. At the time, Reed said that she shot her uncle in “self-defense” after he allegedly threatened her family. The case will now feature in the upcoming episode of Dateline NBC and explore the gruesome murder. Titled “Killer Role,” the episode will air on the network on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 9 p.m. ET.

Initially, the authorities took Reed into custody and interrogated her. At the time, Reed posted the necessary 10% of the $200,000 bail and got out of jail. However, when life started becoming normal for the actress, the case came back to haunt her, after which the police apprehended her on manslaughter charges. As a result, in 2020, the accused pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the second degree and was sent to prison for six years and three months.

According to Oregon’s Department of Corrections, Tucker Reed is currently serving her sentence at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville, Oregon.

As mentioned above, Tucker Reed initially got out on bail and started working in a movie titled From The Dark. She was playing the lead role in the movie. However, a few weeks after the filming finished, the police arrested Reed for murdering her uncle. The police obtained a video as a main evidence that led to her arrest.

In the video, Shane Moore is seen having an argument with Reed’s mother, Kelly Moore. The video also indicated that Shane, who was 63-years old, wasn’t allowed to be anyway near her niece because of a restraining order. He allegedly assaulted her niece in the past.

As the argument progressed, Reed picked up a gun and shot her uncle. The video convinced the court that Tucker Reed didn’t shoot Shane in self-defense and got angry when her uncle didn’t die on the spot. So, Reed took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter. The culprit is currently serving her sentence at a prison in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Peña were returning home one night in June 1993 when a gang attacked them. Ertman was 14 years old at the time, while Peña was 16. They both attended Waltrip High School in Houston. According to CBS News, police reported that the girls were victims of gang rape and that the culprits had strangled them to death. The case, one of the most notorious in Houston history, resulted in the convictions of six people involved.

Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Peña murders explored

CBS reported that Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Peña were returning home on the night of June 24, 1993. They took a shortcut home to Peña’s northwest Houston neighborhood when a gang spotted them while they were crossing a railroad bridge. The gang reportedly drank beer and initiated a new member when one of them grabbed Peña. Ertman turned back and went to help her friend after hearing her screams.

The outlet confirmed that police reported the culprits gang raped Ertman and Peña for over an hour and forced them to perform oral sex. They also kicked the high schoolers, knocked their teeth out, pulled out their hair, and broke their ribs. Authorities also linked him and Derrick Sean O’Brien to a killing six months before the attack on Ertman and Peña. They allegedly raped and eviscerated a 27-year-old woman. Other members involved in the slayings were brothers Venancio Medellin and Jose Medellin, Raul Villarreal, and Efrain Perez.

According to Fox 26, Cantu, O’Brien, and Jose Medellin received the death penalty for their heinous crimes, leading to their executions. Meanwhile, Venancio Medellin received a 40-year prison sentence. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said that he “was spared from a death sentence because of his age.” However, Ogg insisted that “he should spend every day of the rest of his sentence locked up for everyone’s sake.”

The outlet reported that Venancio, who was 14 at the time of the crime, received his sentence under juvenile guidelines. The convicted is now 41 and has served 27 years of his term. At first, Villarreal and Perez also got the death sentence. However, the duo had their punishment commuted to life in prison because they were both 17 when they committed the crime. KHOU 11 stated that this also implies that they are eligible for parole.

However, Elizabeth Peña’s father, Adolph, believes that the remaining culprits “should have also been executed.” The KHOU report stated that Adolph also spoke of the executions, calling it “the happiest day of my life.” He said that the three “deserved it” for killing his daughter.

Reed sent to prison after the shocking video footage of the shooting

According to the video, Shane tried entering the home despite a restraining order that barred him from coming near his niece, Tucker Reed. Shane allegedly physically assaulted Reed in the past. As the argument continued, Reed pulled the trigger and killed her uncle. In the video, she can be heard saying that Shane wasn’t supposed to be near her because of his violent nature. The judge saw the video and noted that Shane didn’t even enter the house properly when the shooting took place. Additionally, the court also said that Tucker Reed was “angry” that Shane didn’t die on the spot. The judge sent Reed to prison, and she is currently serving her sentence at a prison in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Cult mom Lori Vallow Daybell murdered her two children—JJ Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16—in one of the most notorious cases in recent times. Both JJ and Tylee’s cause of death was different from each other. JJ, who had autism, died of asphyxiation, while Tylee’s cause of death was ruled to be “homicide by unspecified means.” The latter’s body had been dismembered and burned, as per Fox News. Police found their remains in June 2020.

Reportedly, Lori Vallow Daybell, dubbed “Doomsday mom,” faced murder charges in connection with JJ and Tylee’s deaths. She also faced one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in Tammy Daybell’s death. Tammy was the first wife of Lori’s fifth husband, Chad Daybell.

In May 2023, a jury convicted Lori for her role in JJ and Tylee’s killings as well as Tammy’s death. She received life in prison without the possibility of parole. Additionally, CBS News stated that Chad Daybell faces similar charges and will stand trial in April 2024.

According to People Magazine, in April 2023, forensic pathologist Dr. Garth Warren revealed details about JJ and Tylee’s cause of death. He testified at Lori Vallow Daybell’s trial, which resulted in a conviction. These revelations came three years after police found the children’s bodies, officially initiating the cases against Lori and Chad Daybell.

Dr. Warren revealed in his testimony at Lori’s trial that JJ’s cause of death was asphyxiation with a plastic bag and duct tape over his mouth. The seven-year-old boy was an adopted child and had autism. Moreover, Warren mentioned scratch marks he found on the boy’s neck and bruises on his wrists and ankles, reported KTVB. He said, “Was JJ trying to get the bag off his head? It could be scratch marks of him trying to get it off his head.”

The outlet mentioned that the forensic pathologist also spoke about Tylee’s cause of death, which was undetermined. Warren stated that the 16-year-old autopsy took several days as her remains were not intact. As per East Idaho News, he said, “This autopsy was different, The vast majority of the time when I perform an autopsy, I get an entire body and there’s a process we go through. Tylee’s case was different. Her remains were received in three separate sealed bags.”

According to the outlet, Warren said they also searched for bullets and knife fragments in Tylee’s remains to determine her cause of death. After an unsuccessful attempt, he determined her cause of death to be “homicide by unspecified means.”

Lori Vallow Daybell and her fifth husband, Chad Daybell, faced murder charges in JJ and Tylee’s deaths. They were also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of the latter’s first wife, Tammy Daybell.

Where were JJ and Tylee’s remains found?

People reported that police found JJ and Tylee’s remains on June 9, 2020, nearly nine months after they went missing. The discovery was made in two separate shallow graves in the backyard of Chad Daybell’s property in Rexburg, Idaho.

FBI Special Agent Steve Daniels testified at Lori Vallow Daybell’s trial, describing the children’s burial sites. He claimed that they first found JJ’s grave underneath a tree and with large rocks at the site. Below the rocks, they found wooden planks, and underneath the wood, he saw plastic and felt a skull. After this, he used a razor blade to cut open the two plastic bags around the remains and saw human hair. The agent then cut open the plastic and saw human hair.

Daniels said, “That’s the point we decide these are human remains. This becomes burial site number 1, and it is JJ’s burial site. Once we found JJ’s remains, we knew Tylee was around here somewhere.” Later, they found the 16-year-old’s remains, “melted, charred, mass, “in a separate burial site.

Fox News reported that pathologist Dr. Warren said that he received Tylee’s burned remains in “three separate bags.” He further added that “[Her] organs had severe decomposition, significant burning artifacts. They were charred and shrunken. Presumably the rest of the organs burned away or were never found.”

JJ and Tylee went missing in September 2019. Shortly after their disappearance, Lori Vallow married Chad Daybell. Authorities had arrested Lori on counts related to her children’s vanishing before the discovery of their remains. Moreover, they arrested Chad after finding their bodies on his property.

The term D. B. Cooper was coined by the media for an unidentified man who hijacked an aircraft on November 24, 1971. The hijacked flight was a Northwest Orient Airlines Boeing 727, and the incident took place in the United States airspace.

When the plane was flying from Portland, Oregon, to Seattle, Washington, an unidentified man informed the flight attendant that he had a bomb with him. He then proceeded to demand a large amount of money in ransom. Furthermore, he demanded four parachutes after the flight’s landing in Seattle.

He released all the passengers in Seattle and ordered the flight crew to refuel the aircraft. The final destination in his mind was Mexico City. Furthermore, he wanted the flight crew to stop in Reno, Nevada, for another refueling. 30 minutes after the flight took off from Seattle, the man opened the aircraft’s aft door, geared a parachute, and jumped into the night sky. This happened over southwestern Washington. Since then, D. B. Cooper remains missing. Interestingly, the mystery of his identity has never been solved.

Dateline NBC plans to re-examine the brutal murder of LaJoya McCoy that took place in June 2015. The episode, titled ‘The Dead of Night,’ will dive deeper into the case and reveal why the owner of a clothing boutique died so tragically. The episode will air on network on Thursday, December 28, at 10 pm ET.

In June 2015, the authorities discovered McCoy’s body in her car just one mile away from her California residence. After the investigation began, the police didn’t take much time in naming her ex, Jose Turner, as the prime suspect. Following this, authorities sent McCoy’s body for an autopsy and found that the victim was killed by strangulation. As a result, they watched Turner’s movements and arrested him almost one month after the murder.

The trial began in the case, after which the jury found him guilty of first-degree murder charges. The court sentenced him to 26 years in prison in the LaJoya McCoy murder case. According to the California Department of Corrections, Jose Turner is currently serving his sentence at the North Kern State Prison in Los Angeles.

She accidentally overdosed on prescription medication in February 2007 while traveling to Hollywood, Florida. An autopsy found many drugs, including pain relievers like methadone, in her body, per the New York Times.

Reportedly, Smith fell gravely ill during her stay at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. A few days later, her private nurse found the model unresponsive in her room. Later, medical staff at the Memorial Regional Hospital pronounced her dead at 2:49 p.m. on February 8, 2007. The medical examiner announced Smith’s cause of death following an autopsy.

Smith’s tragic death came months after she gave birth to her daughter, Dannielynn, in September 2006. That same month, she lost her son, Daniel, to an accidental drug overdose. According to Sportskeeda, 20-year-old Daniel died while visiting the former playmate in her hospital room three days after she gave birth to Dannielynn. There, he accidentally overdosed on a lethal combination of methadone and antidepressants.

The New York Times reported Broward County medical examiner Dr. Joshua A. Perper ruled Anna Nicole Smith’s cause of death as combined drug intoxication. The former Playboy Playmate reportedly died of an accidental prescription drug overdose.

Dr. Preper performed Smith’s autopsy, which found traces of several drugs in her body. These drugs reportedly included muscle relaxants, pain relievers like methadone, and multiple anti-anxiety medicines. He ruled that the primary drug was the potent sedative chloral hydrate. The medical examiner further described that an intestinal flu and a bacterial infection, possibly from an injection with a contaminated needle, were contributing factors. Moreover, he found no illegal drugs in her system.

The outlet reported that Smith’s private nurse, Tasma Brighthaupt, found her unresponsive in her Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino suite on February 8, 2007. The model was reportedly traveling to Hollywood, Florida, at the time and was still mourning her son, Daniel, who died under similar circumstances.

Daniel was visiting his mother in her hospital room three days after she gave birth to her daughter in September 2006. Similar to Smith’s cause of death, her son died of a lethal drug combination.

Preper said that on the night the 39-year-old arrived in South Florida, she had a fever of 105. This fever was likely caused by the infection she had from injecting longevity drugs—a combination of vitamin B12, immunoglobulins, and human growth hormone—into her buttocks. Instead of going to an emergency room, the model broke her fever in an ice bath and took antibiotics and flu medicine before going to sleep.

Over the next few days, Smith continued taking chloral hydrate to get to sleep at night despite regaining strength. The medical examiner said, “When many drugs act together, they may often have unpredictable and dangerous effects.”

According to ABC News, Preper also mentioned, “A fever of 105 is life-threatening, but she refused, and she’s not a child. She has the right to refuse and the people around her determined that she could make such a decision. If she had gone to the hospital, I think that yes, she would have had a chance of survival.”

The outlet further mentioned Preper’s comments on Smith’s cause of death. He noted that none of the medications in Smith’s blood were at extremely high levels except for chloral hydrate. The sleep medication played a major role in her death.

Henry Lee Lucas died in prison on March 12, 2001, while he was serving his sentence of lifetime imprisonment. Popularly known as the Confession Killer, Lucas was convicted of murdering eleven people. Although he was held guilty and sentenced only for eleven murders, Lucas claimed to have killed over 600 people in the 1960s and 1970s. Many of these claims were ruled out as false. The uncertain number that he would keep increasing frequently.

Although the court initially sentenced Henry Lee Lucas to the death penalty, this sentence was revoked when doubts were raised about the credibility of his confessions. Many suspected that his confessions were based on instructions from authorities, while two of the murders had enough evidence to prove that Lucas was the murderer. His sentence was then reduced to lifetime imprisonment because of the uncertainties surrounding his confessions.

During his time in prison, Henry Lee Lucas was reportedly involved with working as a sewing machine operator and preferred that to be his main activity during the day. An investigation into his death revealed a history of heart problems that Lucas was hospitalised for on multiple occasions. His death was declared natural and caused by congestive heart failure. He was then buried at the  Captain Joe Byrd Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.

The case of Henry Lee Lucas became revolutionary because it questioned the faith the public had in the Texas Rangers and other authorities. The procedures that were employed to investigate crimes and what evidence was considered valid became a major point of debate. Many believed that the police forced Lucas to confess to those murders, which gave him the name Confession Killer.

In 1983, Henry Lee Lucas was arrested based on the possession of unlawful firearms. When he was in custody, he wrote to the sheriff, confessing that he had been killing for over a decade. The letter led to the discovery of the remains of Powell and Rich, two of his victims, whom authorities were sure he murdered. He was then tried for those two brutal murders and began claiming that his kill count was much higher.

Initially, Lucas suggested that he killed over 100 people. He then began to claim that his victims were people of all genders and races. Authorities believed that Lucas could have committed a majority of the unsolved cases at the time. However, with all the evidence put together, only 11 of the murders led to his conviction. The investigation of his other potential victims went on for years after Lucas was sentenced.

This was a time when DNA testing wasn’t used in forensics yet. It became extremely difficult to establish whether or not Henry Lee Lucas murdered all of those people. Circumstantial evidence played a major role in validating the confessions.

Although authorities claimed that Lucas did indeed commit most of the unsolved murders, some prominent suspicions were raised by journalists who claimed it would not be possible for Lucas to commit all of those crimes, some of which occurred at the same time. Families of victims also raised questions about the truth in Lucas’ confessions, many of which sounded unreliable.

In 2017, Christopher Duntsch, a Texas-based neurosurgeon, was convicted of maiming and killing many of his patients between 2011 and 2013. He was held guilty of harming over 33 out of the 37 patients and was responsible for the death of at least 2 of whom he treated in those two years. Duntsch was named ‘Dr. Death’ owing to his malpractice. Following his conviction, he received a lifetime in prison sentence.

Duntsch is currently housed at the O. B. Ellis Unit outside Huntsville. He continues to serve his sentence of life imprisonment until he will be eligible for a parole hearing in 2045. Christopher Duntsch will be 74 by that time. Considering the gravity of the crimes committed by Duntsch, the report of malpractice not only led to his medical license getting canceled but also stirred up widespread outrage and a demand for a heavy sentence.

Christopher Duntsch graduated from the Memphis State University and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Although most neurosurgeons participate in over 1000 surgeries throughout their residency, Duntsch allegedly took part in less than 100 surgeries. He was also reportedly under the influence of cocaine during most of the procedures he participated in. Reports from his peers suggest that he wasn’t a reliable surgeon or a doctor in general.

Although the University was aware of the substance abuse allegations, Duntsch managed to dodge the necessary tests that the authorities required him to take. He allegedly did everything in his power to avoid losing his license based on negligence or even for lack of qualification. The negligence to work on complaints from patients, however, was a consistent behavior of Duntsch.

Christopher Duntsch: What was the former Texas-based neurosurgeon accused of?

After treatment from Christopher Duntsch, most, if not all, patients woke up worse than they went in. Some patients were even paralyzed following his procedures, while others would come out with severe fatigue and pain. Duntsch’s reputation as a doctor was gone long before his conviction.

Mary Efurd, Kenneth Fennel, and Lee Passmore, three of Duntsch’s former patients finally filed federal lawsuits against Baylor Plano, a hospital that hired Christopher Duntsch despite being aware of his malpractice and ineligibility to carry out medical procedures. The investigation revealed a high number of patients complaining of worsened conditions after treatment.

Repeated complaints and formal urges to authorities followed. However, it became a challenge to prove that Duntsch’s actions were conscious and willful. His medical license was revoked in 2013, and it wasn’t until 2015 that he was formally arrested for 6 felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, 1 count of injury to an elderly person, and 5 counts of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

It was the maiming and paralyzing of Efurd that maximized the gravity of the case against Christopher Duntsch. He was specially tried for this charge and was held guilty of intentionally harming the patient. The court held that the previous complaints from patients and charges against the hospitals he was working at should have been paid heed to, and the lack of which amounts to intentionally harming patients.

Dr Death Season 1 is a Peacock drama series that follows Christopher Duntsch’s journey. He sets out as a surgeon despite his ability to harm patients. Although the show is a fictional drama, it is heavily based on the case of Christopher Duntsch. The first season released in 2021 and opened to a very positive critical response. Two years later, on June 10, 2016, the singer performed with the pop group Before You Exit at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida. After the performance, when she was signing autographs inside the venue, a 27-year-old Florida native named Kevin James Loibl approached her. When the singer proceeded to hug Loibl, he shot her thrice at point-blank range.

After Kevin James Loibl pulled the trigger, Grimmie’s brother tackled him. However, Loibl broke free, backed against a wall, and took his own life by shooting himself. Meanwhile, the singer was still on the floor and lost a lot of blood. She was immediately rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center. However, almost an hour after getting shot, she was pronounced dead.

Guzmán famously led the Sinaloa Cartel, which is the cartel behind one-fourth of all the illegal drugs that find their way into the US from Mexico. Joaquín Guzmán is currently serving his sentence at the ADX Florence, Colorado.

ADX Florence, also known as Supermax, refers to the United States Penitentiary, Administrative Maximum Facility. It is a maximum security prison specifically designed for inmates who are considered to be of extremely high profile or capable of high violence. El Chapo was imprisoned here after multiple attempts to escape prison. His attempts were indeed successful and led to Guzman walking free even after conviction.

Guzmán is known to have exported more drugs into the US than any other drug trafficker. He was also the most powerful drug trafficker of his time and is often compared to Pablo Escobar. Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán was first convicted of drug trafficking and murder when he was captured in Guatemala in 1993. The court subsequently sentenced El Chapo to 20 years in prison in Mexico. Guzmán managed to escape from the maximum security prison in 2001 by bribing the prison guards. USA and Mexico announced a combined reward of $8.8 million for information about his whereabouts.

However, before the sentencing could unfold in 2015, El Chapo managed to escape again. This time, he escaped through an underground tunnel dug by allies from outside into his prison. The tunnel was about 10 m deep and was equipped with artificial lights as well as good construction material and air ducts. This well-organized escape triggered the authorities to start an elaborate hunt for Joaquín Guzmán.

He walked free for about a year before Mexican authorities got hold of him in 2016. They then handed him over to the US. He was then found guilty in the US and sentenced to a lifetime in prison. He is now at the Supermax, Colorado, owing to his history of escaping from prison successfully.

The trailer for Daughters of the Cult previews the upcoming Hulu true crime docuseries, which is described as a shocking deep dive into the history of Ervil LeBaron’s polygamous cult as told by the people who were there.

When does Daughters of the Cult debut?

The docuseries debuts all five episodes on Hulu as of January 4.

Daughters of the Cult “is a shocking five-episode deep-dive into the history of the polygamous Ervil LeBaron cult told directly through the eyes of the people who were there. Hidden in plain sight throughout the Southwest and Mexico, a splinter group of Mormon fundamentalist cult members perpetrate a deadly wave of violence and abuse for decades in the name of their fanatical prophet Ervil LeBaron, dubbed the ‘Mormon Manson’,” per the official synopsis.

It continues: “Survivors, relatives of killers, and law enforcement now come forward to paint an emotional and grisly picture of a brutal madman ordering cold-blooded executions. Despite running from the FBI for most of their young lives there is triumph, healing, and sisterhood for the brave few who escape the cult and begin anew.”

Right after the 2016 Kalamazoo shootings, the police identified and arrested Jason Brian Dalton. At the time of his arrest, he was 45 years old. Furthermore, he was driving a black Chevrolet HHR. After getting arrested, it did not take Dalton to confess to his crimes. However, he stated that the reason he went on a shooting spree was due to his Uber mobile app. He said that the symbol looked a lot like the Order of the Eastern Star and he could not control whatever he was doing.

Jason Brian Dalton was raised in Greenfield, Indiana. He attended middle school and high school in Charlottesville and then graduated from Comstock High School in 1989. He went on to attend Kalamazoo Valley Community College and graduated in 1992 with an associate degree in law enforcement. However, he did not enter his college’s police academy program. In 1995, he married his Carole, with whom he had two children.

Jason Brian Dalton’s victims were Tyler D. Smith (17), Richard E. Smith (53), Mary Jo Nye (60), Mary Lou Nye (62), Dorothy Brown (74), and Barbara Hawthorne (68). Tyler and Richard were a son and father-duo, while the rest of the women were friends.

According to the MDOC Department of Corrections website, Dalton is currently being held at Oaks Correctional Facility. In 2019, ABC 20/20 released an episode titled “The Deadly Ride”. This episode covered Dalton’s crime and everything that transpired on the day of the tragedy.

The official synopsis of The Deadly Ride read,

“The case of Jason Dalton, a former Uber driver, who terrorized the city of Kalamazoo, Michigan, for eight hours on Feb. 20, 2016, killing six people and seriously injuring two others.”

On February 22, 2016, Dalton was charged with six counts of murder, and two counts of assault Furthermore, he was even charged with intent to commit murder, and eight counts of using a firearm during a felony. After pleading guilty to all counts on January 7, 2019, his sentencing took place on February 5, 2019. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

After this tragic incident, according to The Washington Post, an Uber spokesman released a statement that said, “We are horrified and heartbroken at the senseless violence in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this devastating crime and those recovering from injuries. We have reached out to the police to help with their investigation in any way that we can. Calls were made for Uber to improve its background check system.”

Why was Tiana Carruthers called a hero?

One of the survivors of this brutal attack is a woman named Tiana Carruthers. According to KARE 11, she got shot several times. However, many people called her a hero because she put herself between the shooter and a group of kids.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Carruthers’ grandmother Phoenix Windwalker stated that her granddaughter was a hero. Windwalker said, The children were saved. Her 7-year-old daughter saw her get shot, along with her niece and the three other children. She saved the children by doing what she did, which was really courageous for her and I’m proud of her, but I feel so, so sorry for her. It’s just not fair.”

Furthermore, Tammy George, one of the parents of the children Carruthers saved said that four bullets ended up in her bedroom closet.

George said,

“Some hit the boards, four actually went through our bedroom wall closet. We had three kids in the room at the time. They thank God they were OK.”

At the time of this incident, Tiana Carruthers was 25 years old.
